RÖDA linjen

What if it were natural for us urban gardeners to visit each other's gardens, cook and eat together, and help each other? We at Odla Ihop long for this to be the case, and are therefore inviting gardens to join the Röda Linjen long table tour.

The Röda Linjen project aims to connect growing sites along the red metro line from Hornstull to Norsborg. That is why Odla Ihop Tanto is inviting Skärholmen's recreational gardening association and Vårberg's neighbourhood garden to festive long tables in August and September.

The long tables are potluck parties where everyone contributes with some food and drinks. And we hope for music, singing and dancing!

A small group of people from each garden will also meet each time and contribute food that has special meaning, with connections to memories. Memories we collect together with stories about gardening, traditions and recipes. The stories will then be turned into an exhibition, a cookbook or perhaps a calendar for our own urban gardening traditions.

We who started the project are from the Odla Ihop Tanto community garden in Hornstull and our names are Jenny Salmson and Mirjam Hector. Jenny is a driving force behind Odla Ihop, Mirjam is a filmmaker, photographer, artist and Odla Ihop member.

DO YOU WANT TO JOIN US AS A GUEST?

As a guest, you are welcome to bring something to eat and drink to the long tables, and a blanket so you don't get cold in the late summer evenings. If you want to play or sing something, you are more than welcome to do so. Just come!

DO YOU WANT TO BE A CO-CREATOR?

Would you like to co-create this project with us?
Would you like to contribute your experiences of cultivation, harvesting and processing, share memories from your life or stories from the past, from your family or from a place? Would you like to find old recipes and dishes that are associated with your memories? Do you have traditions, music, songs or dances that you would like to share with us?

Then it would be fantastic if you would like to co-create this long table tour with us!

In order to really get to know each other and hear each other's stories, about five people from each place will meet at all the long tables a few hours before we open for everyone to participate. When the long table is at your farm, you bring something to eat or drink that means something special to you, and the rest of us will contribute something to the potluck.

Our dishes, stories, memories and recipes are what create the project and are documented with notes, images and sound (without close-ups of faces).

We meet three times in August and September, and in December we gather again around long tables indoors and look at what we have created based on the documentation, as far as we have come by then.

Those of us who lead the project set up a tent with long tables and make sure that everything we need is there.

If you don't speak Swedish, it's fine if you speak English, but you need to understand Swedish well. Most people understand English quite well, but have difficulty speaking it. And it's important that everyone involved can communicate without language barriers.
